Membership criteria

A member of the Bulgarian Removals Association /the Association/ can be any Bulgarian trader /regardless of whether he is a legal entity or a capable individual/, approving this Statute and the goals that the association sets for itself, as well as the activities included in its scope of activity, who also predominantly performs /receives more than half of his income from commercial activity in the field of removals/, performs services in packaging, transportation of goods – international or local, unpacking, etc., without the transportation service forming the main part of the price of the service.

Every candidate for membership of the Association shall maintain high professional standards and shall conduct himself in such a manner as to ensure that the interests and goodwill of the Association are not prejudiced or brought into disrepute.

Applications will be considered on the understanding that once accepted by the BAP, members will be required to comply with the rules of the Association’s Code of Ethics and to have appropriate insurance.

All candidates must agree and accept that the decisions of the Association’s Board of Directors regarding applications for membership are final and that the Board of Directors reserves the right not to enter into any correspondence.

Applying for new members

Criteria that must be met by all candidates

All applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have the capabilities, competence and resources to safely manage, operate and properly administer their business, as well as meet specific criteria in each of the following areas:

Financing

Applicants must be able to prove that they have the financial resources to operate a fully legitimate moving business.

Good reputation

Owners, partners, directors, managers, shareholders or any person interested in the management of the business, candidates and members must:

  • have a clean criminal record for property crimes or crimes related to financial and credit activities;
  • not have been declared bankrupt under national law;
  • not have engaged in conduct that, in the reasoned opinion of the Board of Directors, is contrary to the requirements for membership.

Insurance

Applicants, as well as members, must be able to protect their clients in the event of loss or damage to their goods provided for removal or storage, which is the subject of the contract concluded with the client in one of the following ways:

  • to offer and arrange insurance for the benefit of the client.
  • to offer and arrange insurance on behalf of the client.
  • to undertake to compensate the client for loss or damage and to have insurance to guarantee the fulfillment of this obligation. In any case, the insurance policies must meet the minimum standards set by the Association.
    Each applicant, as well as a member, must have “Civil Liability” insurance, with coverage specified by the Association.

Room

There should be a dedicated office space with unobstructed access for the client, which should be professionally furnished and arranged. Storage facilities should be safe and well maintained.

Staff

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that all employees, whether employed or temporarily employed, have been appropriately trained and qualified through detailed induction training, including extensive health and safety information, in the form of training and testing. Written records of the training must be kept for each employee.

Vehicles

The applicant must be able to demonstrate that they have the resources to maintain and safely operate their own or controlled vehicles without posing a risk to people.
